[Lyrics, Translation] One More Time, One More Chance

lyrics-translation-one-more-time-one-more-chance

There’s this song that I heard a couple of months back. It’s the anime movie Byousoku 5cm or 5cm per Second. Well, the song is old. I know I’ve heard it somewhere before when I heard it from the movie… I mean, when they used it for the anime, it was kind of like a revival, as what we would call it here. And the movie is actually a series of segments, or short films, basically about relationships and distance.

I liked the movie, although I can’t give a full review right now. I’ll have to watch it again. But I kind of was able to relate to this movie. It was a little slow all throughout the movie… as if it was moving 5cm per second, but it was at a pace wherein you wouldn’t want it to rush nor slow down.

For a person like me who’s got a lot of close friends online, who I might not ever meet, distance is such a big thing and a small thing at the same time. The distance doesn’t keep us apart from being friends, but there are times when you wish the distance wasn’t there at all.

The ending song for the movie was what made me think of a lot of things. It made me think of the past, the present, and the future. Even before I was able to find a translation, just the mood of the song and from what little I could understand from it made me think about the what if’s in my life… the what could’ve been’s… It made me think of the things I wanted when I was a child, and the things I wanted and never got, which is probably a lot. It made me think about the dolls I saw and wanted and never got. It made me think of the other toys I had wanted. It made me think of the playhouses and the swing sets I wanted to have.

For the present, it made me think of the things I have to go through now, the things I let go in the past and now living with regrets and what I’ve got left, the things that make me ask myself, “Am I Happy?”

For the future, it made me think, or wonder, if I’ll be in the same state or the same place where I am now. Will I be able to move on for good, and all that emo stuff.

Ah.. Well… Here is the song that I want to share today. The translation is from Hunting the Elusive and lyrics itself can also be found in one of the comments.

[Cover] (Yen Town Band) CHARA - Swallowtail Butterfly ~Ai no Uta~

cover-yen-town-band-chara-swallowtail-butterfly-ai-no-uta

This is the theme from one of the Japanese movies that I really really liked. Swallowtail / Yentown was directed by Shunji Iwai, a great director whose works are movies that I really liked as well.

Anyway, I’ve always liked to sing this song but I couldn’t find any karaoke for it. I heard it sung in an Idolm@ster Xenoglossia Character Single Kikuchi Makoto (Hirata Hiromi) and it made me want to sing it >_< even more. So … I found the chords here but it wasn’t that nice. I mean, it wasn’t that complete, no Intros or Extros or something. So I just added A - D - A - D for continuity.

I hope it sounds nice to other people’s ears. It sounds nice to me >___> (except when the strings make this weird sound). There’s also this part at the end where I should’ve filled it with something like “heeyyy yeaaaahhh” but bleh… I felt like my fingertips are about to split from playing the guitar too much. So… after like ten times of restarting from the start every time I make a mistake, I just did cut and move. =_= So you might hear weird changes in sound.

I got the link for the romanized lyrics with translation from wiki.theppn.org.

Swallowtail Butterfly ~A Song of Love~

On my still palm it trembles and hesitates
In the blue of this blue sky, my heart grows lonely

After I stuffed into my pocket all the things I believe in
I walked a long way along the railroad tracks swaying with summer grass

In my heart, in my heart there is hurt
Far away, a mirage is wavering

In the shadows of the clouds you were chasing a dream of tomorrow
Distantly I thought of parting

In this soiled world there’s no echo of sadness
Somewhere you pass by, carrying only that

My body becomes honest in itself
And I can’t stop my tears, but

No matter where I go from here
The world will continue to overcome the night
And a song of love begins to echo in my heart

I couldn’t run freely in my mother’s shoes
I didn’t cry, even on the day I first went barefoot

Even the map I was looking at upside-down–I threw it away already

In my heart, in my heart there is magic
Wings, open in the storm–you’ll fly

Distantly I remembered you
And a song of love began to echo in my heart
By this song of love, I begin to search for you

[Lyrics Translation] Megumi Ida - Tsuki no Akari

lyrics-translation-megumi-ida-tsuki-no-akari

Due to popular demand… I tried translating the song. This is my Christmas gift to you (To some people anyway)!

I know I’m not that good but I tried not to translate everything literally since songs aren’t really meant to be translated literally. (I’m making up excuses). Anywayz, here is my translation of Megumi Ida’s Tsuki no Akari from FFIV (DS I think)

Moonlight - Final Fantasy IV Love Theme
Performed by: Megumi Ida
Produced by: Nobuo Uematsu
Translated by: Mi

My heart whispered your name
But these thoughts of mine didn’t reach you

The look of my beloved is now too far,
With closed eyes, floating in the night sky

Even now, those calm days when we laughed together
Are still warm in my heart.

The first light in the blue night glows
And that day’s brightness shines

It’s not possible to wipe your tears
This is where my hands only trembled

Now taking an endless journey alone
Just wandering with these tired legs

Even now, those wet days we warmly spent together
are still warm in my hand.

The moon’s light just quietly shines
On this rusted heart which still beats

The moon’s light in the blue night glows
And that day’s brightness shines

———————
Note: I used Moonlight for the title and the moon’s light for the song lyrics because it sounded more poetic. They mean the same thing anyway.

***I changed part of my translation, thanks to Rabbit for pointing it out. :D I still tried to keep the poetry in the song.

[Lyrics Translation] Pasko Na, Sinta Ko - It’s Christmas, My Love

lyrics-translation-pasko-na-sinta-ko-its-christmas-my-love

I don’t know who originally sang this song… I just know it’s old. I always play this song, every year, but this year,  I couldn’t remember the chords. Oh well. You’ll hear fireworks in the background since I recorded this 6 hours before Christmas.

Pasko na, Sinta Ko

Pasko na sinta ko
Hanap-hanap kita
Bakit ka nagtampo
Iniwan ako

It’s Christmas, my love
I’m longing for you
What did I do
that made you leave me

Kung mawawala ka
Sa piling ko sinta
Paano ang Pasko
Inulila mo

If you’ll be gone
From my side, my love
What will happen to my Christmas
That you made so lonely

Refrain:
Sayang sinta ang sinumpaan
At pagtitinginang tunay
Nais mo bang kalimutang ganap
Ang ating suyuan at galak

Our promises have gone to waste, my love
And our love that was so true
Do you wish to forget everything
All our affection and joys

Kung mawawala ka
Sa piling ko sinta
Paao ang Paskong
Alay ko sa iyo.

If you’ll be gone
From my side, my love
What will happen to my Christmas
That I offer to you

That’s that, I guess. Time to move on. :D

Negaiboshi
Artist: Snow*
Translation: xess

It looks like it’s about to fall apart. So precious that I couldn’t touch it
I won’t forget the wish on the star
The strange box lying in the corner of the classroom;
I won’t show it to anyone. I always pretend not to see it
The first time you walked me home during that starry night
I still haven’t eaten that fruit
I struck it with all my might. I cried and I screamed
I’m certain nerves are made from silk and steel
My insuppressible feelings are cast on a wishing star
It’s now time to run. Beyond the door are diamonds.
Thousands of dreams transcribed onto a notebook
Whenever I’m trapped I’m go see you

One by one, we become adults
Next to friendship sits a slightly jealous heart
Thus, incorrect reasons are lined up
and inside the beautiful bowl are countless loves

It began suddenly. You appeared
All the world turned into gold and prismatic shades

I don’t believe in tears too beautiful, however
perhaps reflecting from your eyes now
are thousands wishing stars showering down
What did you see in that moment?

I realised that the seasons will eventually change
And I cried a little.

My insuppressible feelings are cast on a wishing star
Now is the time to run. Beyond the doorway are diamonds
Thousands of dreams transcribed onto a notebook
If I’m trapped I’ll go see you

The sparkle and eternity are cut short
We made a promise with a kiss on that day
It looks like it’s about to fall apart. So precious that I couldn’t touch it
I won’t forget the wish on the star

Pilipino Ako; I Am Filipino

Like a promised, here is the translation of my post, I Am A Filipino; Pilipino Ako.

This is a reply to a post pinoy? of irzh. My reply got a little too long so I just made a whole post about it. Here is a translation of that post as well:

This is a group for pinoys right? So why do most people here post using English? I’m going to post in Tagalog whether you like it or not. We’re pinoys for crying out loud! We have our own language, why do we still need to use English? What’s the use of our own language if we’re always using another country’s language? But I think if we’re really pinoys we should use Tagalog more because this is our language. I really don’t understand the minds of pinoys like me. Maybe they are ashamed because of our country’s poverty. Why won’t we be poor, when hardly anyone does anything. A proverb says, “Mercy comes from God, actions from men.” I’m just a little annoyed that’s why I wrote this. I don’t care if someone gets angry with what I wrote… If we all unite and work together, we’re going to develop right? *

It really depends
First, we shouldn’t limit the language of being a Filipino to Tagalog only. There are many languages in the Philippines, not just Tagalog. However you can say that Tagalog is the most widespread language of the Philippines because of the “Filipino Language.”
Second, it depends on which language the writer is more comfortable with. Some people might say that we may be writing the way we talk, but it really is different when it comes to writing and speaking.Third, our blogs will have more audience if they are written in English. Our languages don’t have an instant translator like others. It’s not about being ashamed or anything. For example, most of my readers are the people I chat with from other countries all over the world. How will they understand my blog if most of my writings are in Filipino? I don’t want to translate each and every post just so they could understand.

We don’t need to promote are being Filipino with just language. If we can get more readers we get around the world, if we can get our blogs to reach more places around the world, your blog itself could show that you are a Filipino, like putting the Proudly Pinoy logo. You should also have good content. Those are some ways you can show that you are a Filipino, right?

I would also like to promote that I am a Filipino through language, but I hardly have any readers, and if I limit it to just Filipinos, who will be left?
I’m not saying that we should JUST use English either.
We should admit though. Most Filipinos don’t have mastery in English NOR Filipino, and I think that we should practice each language well. I am not very good at Filipino, but when I get the chance, I try to use it properly.

Our development as a country IS affected by language. We can blame our Educational System for that. If you look at the curriculum, it doesn’t promote love for the country very much. Subjects like Filipino and HeKaSi/Social Studies aren’t given much importance. Then there’s this Makabayan subject which combined a couple of subjects which shouldn’t. Because of this, we don’t grow to love our country very much, and we are not united. We aren’t growing as a country because of lack of love for the country.
The above-mentioned are just my opinions.

Lyrics: Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang

This is the Freestyle & Pops Fernandez version. It got really popular around 2001. …

Why just now
Why just now when my heart has someone else already

I wish I knew that you’d come into my life
I could’ve waited…

Bridge:

Ikaw sana ang aking yakap-yakap
(Ikaw sana ang aking yakap-yakap)
Ang iyong kamay ang aking laging hawak
(Ang iyong kamay lagi ang aking hawak)
At hindi kanya… (at hindi kanya)

You could’ve been the one in my arms
And your hand the one I’m holding
And not his

Chorus:

Why did you come into my life just now
Trying to open my already-closed heart
Are you the right one for me
And should I forget him?
I want to know why did you just come now
Repeat Bridge

Repeat Chorus 2x

Oooh…oooh

I want to know why did you just come now

ehh… I think it’s nicer to use “why are you late?” lol. hmm.. or maybe Why now? … “Why just now” makes a lot of difference though….

*sigh*

Have I ever written here that I wanted to become a translator?
oh well…

Lyrics: MYMP - Sa Kanya

I don’t know who sang the original. Anyway, I present to you or anyone reading this blog song lyrics and translations of Tagalog/Filipino songs. I’ll be doing this by request or whatever strikes my mood. I’ll try to be as accurate in the translation and not just stick to transliterations. >_>

Namulat ako at ngayo’y nag-iisa

I woke up and I was alone after the rain
Even after the moments have passed
I still wonder if I won
I keep saying that this is nothing
But why is it that until now, I still bleed

Chorus:

“Sa kanya pa rin babalik,” sigaw ng damdamin
“Sa kanya pa rin sasaya,” bulong ng puso ko
Kung buhay pa ang alaala ng ating nakaraan
Ang pagmamahal at panahon alay pa rin sa kanya

“To him, I’ll still come back,” my feelings shout out
“With him, I will be happy,” my heart whispers
If the memories of the past are still alive
My love and time are still offered to him

When midnight comes I’ll be alone
gazing at your picture
The memories of the night with you came to me
while I was with someone else
In case you think this is nothing to me
I wish you’d hear my voice that is still alone

Repeat Chorus 2x

Adlib:

Ang pagmamahal at panahon alay pa rin
Sa kanya, sa kanya, sa kanya, hah-ooh

My love and time are still offered
to him…
