I’m Going To A Crater! (Taal Volcano)

im-going-to-a-crater-taal-volcano

I found out something just recently. Tagaytay is in Cavite and with minimal traffic, you can get there from Makati in about an hour and a half.

All my life, I had always been thinking that Tagaytay is somewhere near Baguio and that it’s a minimum of 4 hours to get there. I’ve only been there twice. The first time was on a field trip, and the second time a family a trip, both during grade school. I’m not one who likes long rides, so an hour trip feels like forever to me.

Anyways, me and some friends are planning to go to Tagaytay next weekend to unwind and do some sight-seeing. We’re planning to go to the Taal Volcano crater.

See the one where it says “A”? I want to go there!

My problem, though, is to get there, we’ll need to do a lot of walking, then I think there’s horseback riding (I’ve done this… once?), a boat ride (never been on a boat, big or small), and then some hiking (done this a couple of times). I’m big and lack exercise. I get tired easily, and my sprain from before starts hurting after a couple of minutes of walking. Here I am, trying to figure out a fast way on how to lose belly fat because I’m so lazy, and I’m wanting to do hiking!

Well… I’ll endure it. Coz I really wanna visit the crater!

Typhoon Ondoy Hits Manila… Hard.

typhoon-ondoy-hits-manila-hard

Yesterday morning when I woke up, it was raining. Actually, the night before, it was already raining hard. Pop told me to start putting up my things just in case it floods. I raised my noodle stash, and some other stuff. I put Taba and Teacup on the top bunk as well. Usually when it floods here inside the house, maximum would only be 6 inches deep, so I wasn’t bothered. When the water started coming in, it was just coming in slowly. And then it was rising more and more… and it was rising fast. I told myself that I didn’t want to step in that murky water, but I had to.

Taba and Teacup

The half-foot deep of murky water became a foot. And then more. And then it was knee-deep. Mama was able to save my clothes. I wasn’t able to save my shoes. They were already floating about. I tried to save some of the lower drawers, boxes, whatever I can save. I dumped them all on my bed. Some stuff were falling off the side, and when I knelt on my bed, it sank. My bed was floating already. I quickly got off. I’d rather it float than have it soaked.

Toilet

The power went out as well. We were just using candles, and my UPS was still able to power up my router and modem. My netbook still had some life to it. Tried to go online for a bit to read up on what was happening to my side of the world. And if my colleagues were able to go to work. With chest-deep water and higher, some opted not to risk their lives just to go to work. It was just not be worth it. Even if I try to get a life insurance quote to wade through the waters to go to work, I’ll probably not go too, if I had work last night. Good thing it was still my rest day.

But now I’ve got to get some rest. I’ve got to sleep. I’ve got work tonight. It’s not raining much anymore. I’ll go to work. There’s no such thing as severe weather condition as a reason for not coming to work.

I know I’m lucky that the water has receded at my place. In some areas the water is still high, and people are stranded inside their very homes. For now, I’m good. For the others, I’m hoping for everyone’s safety.

What Boredom Brings… Smiling Night Sky

what-boredom-brings-smiling-night-sky

We’re back in training so I have a lot of time in my hands. PLUS I’m free during the daytime when malls and shops are open. But I’m not in the mood for that -_-;

So the moment came when I couldn’t take it any longer, I was suddenly in the mood for ice cream. So I went to 7-11. But the ice cream I wanted to eat wasn’t there. I passed by an animal feeds shop so I bought 2kg of puppy food for Marchela and Daniela.

Then I passed by Mercury Drug to get some of the pain relievers that were prescribed to me, but stupid me, I forgot the prescription. So I checked out their ice cream corner. I bought the yogurt ice cream thing.

I looked up at the sky and guess what I see?

Smiling Night Sky

I only have a crappy cellphone camera so that’s the best that I can do.

I tried to zoom it on my computer…

But this is really the best that I can do. No matter what, I wanted to capture that moment, that image that made me smile.

And according to Sarah, one of the stars is Venus and another said the other one is Jupiter.
