Eiga Sai 2007

The UPFI Schedule for this year’s Eiga Sai (Japanese Film Festival). I’ve not been watching for thepast four years though. Either I had a class and/or I was just lazy. OMG. Why am I so lazy? Someone save me (/>_<)/

Anyways, Eiga Sai is going to be held in other venues, not just at UP, but since I’m studying there anyway, I might as well. Here is the schedule and line-up for the festival.  All showings are FREE. and I love free stuff.

UP Film Institute

July 2 (Mon) 2:00 PM Shangri-la (Togenkyo No Hitobito)
5:00 PM Out of this World (Kono Yo no Sotoe-Club Shinchu Gun)
7:00 PM Blue Spring (Aoi Haru)

July 3 (Tue) 2:00 PM Blue
  5:00 PM Inochi
7:00 PM Kamikaze Girls (Shimotsuma Monogatari)

July 4 (Wed) 7:00 PM Hotel Hibiscus

July 5 (Thu) 2:00 PM Harmful Insect (Gaichu)
5:00 PM No One’s Ark (Baka no Hakobune)
7:00 PM The Stars Converge (Chirusoku no Natsu)

Gonna watch the 5pm shows, I think. From these movies, I’ve seen Kamikaze Girls and Gaichu. I want to see the rest. >_< Good thing my classes are just until 3:30 or 4:00. XD I can stay at the faculty room until 4:30 I guess.

It’s just that there seems to be more and more Japanophiles these days. It’s annoying, to be honest. I don’t know why. I feel like they’re so…. so…. trying hard. >_<

I’ll check FSS first if they have the other movies. Although… It would be nice to watch free movies in a theater. It’s free anyway.

Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros

I’m subbing that movie. The International Title is The Blossoming of Maximo Oliveros.

So far I’m on the translation stage.

I tried simultaneously translating, typesetting, and timing all at the same time, but it was hard. So… I’ll do it the normal way:

  1. Translation
  2. Typesetting
  3. Rough Timing
  4. Editing
  5. Timing
  6. Quality Check
  7. Release

Instead of doing everything all at the same time, I’ll just do it one by one. The order isn’s strictly like this. Some overlap and some may even come before or after another. I’ll edit to add definitions later.

Love & Suicide

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/love_and_suicide/about.php

Looks interesting…

SYNOPSIS

“Only life can kill you.”

A man goes to Cuba and discovers the one thing between Love and Suicide.

TOMAS (Kamar De Le Reyes) is living in a vicious circle of life and death.

He has all the success and awards a man could want. Living a high-rise New York City life style, many people would love to achieve. But he cannot have it all. Some desires, money cannot buy. No matter how much he tries. Tomas cannot have his long lost love.

He enters a world of night and day, dark and light, dreams and reality; that has become the line between Love and Suicide.

Trapped in this vicious cycle, not knowing which world to choose, Tomas decides to come to terms with not having his true love, by choosing suicide.

ALBERTO (Luis Moro) lives a simple life. He never focuses on material possessions. Alberto is not living to acquire the symbols of past identities. He peacefully swims with life, knowing no one’s life will ever outlast eternal time. Dreams and reality are the same for Alberto.

During Tomas last suicide attempt, he breaks into a world of history preserved in the present. A world that time has stopped and human souls have risen beyond the material surface.

This world only exists in CUBA. The birthplace of many broken hearts, false dreams and lost lives. Yet, a world that defies all manly possessions, for the privilege of family, friends, and the Holy Spirit.

Many people appear in Cuba for many reasons; some come for no reason at all. NINA (Daisy McCrackin), a gipsy-type flower child is looking for her reasons, while TOMAS is running away from his.

In the frantic moment before he attempts to kill himself, TOMAS recalls the intimate moments in Cuba brought forth from his friendship with NINA and ALBERTO. Especially, the ultimate test of authenticity put upon him by ALBERTO.
