Mi’s Christmas Mailing List
This started 3 years ago, the same year I created my channel called #roflmao on Rizon. I also sent out cards the year before, but it was only to other people who were going to send me cards too.
Back when #roflmao was still alive and flourishing, there was always activity, talking, games like Uno and Scramble… And so come Christmas season, since I was the queen in that room, to show my gratitude to my “people”, I created the Christmas Mailing List or the CML. It was just for fun, and I wasn’t asking for the others to send me cards as well. I just wanted to do it in the spirit of the season. I’m also happy doing that.
I can’t remember anymore how many cards I sent that time. I know that I paid around P500+ for all of them.
This year, I sent 32 cards in 4 postal regions: South America, Pacific, Asia, and Europe and USA. The paper I used for the envelopes were colorful and handmade. The woman at the post office even commented on it. I was kind of embarrassed because they must have looked childish when I brought them to the window to have them stamped. I made up some excuse that I met all those people from a conference and that we promised each other to send Christmas cards. It’s too difficult to explain to old people who probably don’t even know how to operate a computer that these people are all from the Internet and I haven’t even met any of them in real life.
All of the cards, not just the envelopes, were handmade as well. I just used some fancy panda printed and glittery paper. Some of them I stuck little things like stickers or foam sheets, some I painted on them.
Next year, I intend to use christmas photo cards or something. Or just post cards so that it’s cheaper. That way I could send to MORE people with not too much effort. I must admit that there was a point where I thought I bit off more than I could chew because I ended up sending cards to more than 30 people (I forgot some people. They’ll just have to be on the next batch).
But the excitement! The feeling! I don’t have any regrets sending out the cards. Maybe one day I’ll be remembered for this! hahahaha
