Jobs and Lay-offs
Lately, there’s been plenty of lay-offs, even with the call center industry. It was once thought that the call center industry would save the country’s economy, I think, but that might not be the case anymore. In the past couple of years, there’s been plenty of “schools” popping up here and there, that will train one to be a call center agent. Although I honestly never saw the point of those “schools,” they might be even more useless soon.
Right now, all I could do is to make sure I stay on my job, if not move up. It doesn’t matter now what kind of job you have these days, or where. The great lay-off could come at you any moment. Even Manhattan jobs won’t make a difference. There are lay-offs everywhere.
I think, instead of lay-offs, why not just decrease the pay. Give them a paycut, like 50%. At least they still have a job in a sense, albeit the pay is a little low, but I think it’s better than nothing. Cut a whole company’s salary into 50%? Lol. I don’t know. I’m not into business or anything, just a thought that came up. Having 500 or 900 people suddenly losing their jobs like that is just scary.
