Survival of the Fittest

survival-of-the-fittest

I’m blogging with my phone.. Anyways.

we had kind of an open forum today regarding our team leader. The new teammates don’t really like him.. Or couldn’t bear him in particular. More like they fear him, I guess.

there’s this one guy who was very vocal about his dislike of tl’s methods. Sure. I agree, he can be a little brutal, but he does it for a reason. He’s the type who does not do anything without a reason. People really only see the wrong things in other people. Those who were very vocal, they’re not even close to being performers. They should look at themselves first and evaluate themselves. They keep blaming tl’s methods but if they only would try to follow, they wouldn’t feel so pressured.

all they could talk about are tl’s bad sides. Never THEIR OWN FLAWS.

i think he who is not perfect does not have the right to throw stones at someone else. In other words, they don’t have the right to complain and whine. If they have issues with the person, why bring it up with someone else? Do they not have the confidence that they are in the right? Probably not. These people are cowards. I hate them. It’s not the right attitude i should have for my new teammates, i know. But if they’re not willing to accept their own flaws, much less accept tl’s, i could hardly care for them. Bleh to them. This team will never be unified.

New Bed and Randommess

new-bed-and-randommess

I have a new bunk bed! It’s so BIG! It fills almost half my room XD

The good side of it, it’s big enough that I can stretch comfortably withing feeling cramped (except when my dog decides to sleep in the middle or on top of me). The bad side of it, some of my stuff had to be moved outside because they won’t fit in my room. Another bad side of it, I’m so lazy so … they’re still outside. And some inside… my room’s a big big Mess.

I love my new bed except that I don’t have a decent cushion for it yet. Of course I love it. I bought it with my hard earned money (and OT). I also bought a swivel chair (which I’ve barely used because of my vegetable of a computer).

Anyway, I’d think that this was enough to feel more relaxed and have better sleep, but no. With stress from work, what I would really need is a vacation. A long (paid) one. I’d love to check out possibly some Vegas vacations but I don’t have enough leave credits for an overseas trip (not to mention money!) ~_~

*sigh* Life. Wonderful.

And it’s like a Melody :D. Here’s a song by Lia from the game “Tomoyo After ~It’s a Wonderful Life~ Shokai Tokuten”

Lia - Life is like a Melody

And here’s another song that I’ve been listening to a lot recently, also by Lia.

Broken PC = Internet Not Working

broken-pc-internet-not-working

My bed was due to be delivered today and I’m using it right now. I can blog while sitting down on my bed!!!

Anyway, I already told my boss that I need to leave right after my shift because my bed’s gonna be delivered so… just my luck, 5 minutes before closing, I got a call. Within 2 minutes, I was able to figure out that it was a computer issue already and exactly, by 12, I was referring out.

But nooooooo the customer wouldn’t take that. She said we should give extra service and fix her computer, send out someone to make sure it’s working. I told her that we’re in DSL technical support and even if I sent a tech, he wouldn’t know how to fix her computer AND she will get charged. I told her that I would send her a tech if she really wanted but she has to make sure that the tech wasn’t going to touch her computer. I asked if she wanted to continue troubleshooting instead.

In the middle of troubleshooting, she SCREAMED into my ear that she has done this, done that, a million times already and that she knows it already. So I asked her something and she said she didn’t know it. Then I asked her if she wanted to continue troubleshooting. This went on like 3 more times.

We went on Safe Mode with Networking and I proved to her that her internet is working. It’s her computer that is not. I was ready to put on some tactical gear or heavy artillery armor if she still wouldn’t take that.

But… She calmed down… A lot … and I wasted 30 minutes proving it to her that it’s her stupid computer that wasn’t working. Then she brought up again that we should give her complementary service since she’s been paying for her internet for 18 months without actually using it.

WHY would anyone pay for 18 months for a service that they’re not using? WHY would they only call 18 months later and tell their ISP that their service is not working? WHY would they call only 18 months later and ask for the refund?

I do NOT get the logic. If they’re so keen on the money that goes out of their pockets, shouldn’t they have paid attention to this not so little detail? This is over $30 a month that we’re talking about, times 18. That is NOT a small amount.

In the end, I told her to call the billing department, ask them to contact technical support and check the notes that the customer really did indeed just call last month, after 18 months of paying for the service, and just actually started using it. That way, if she gets credited of refunded, she can afford the additional fee-based service her ISP has to offer to get her computer fixed. And then I told her that she needs to restart her PC because she shouldn’t stay in safe mode. Then she said, in a child-like voice as if she got scolded, “Can I at least check my e-mails?”

I said yes. But make sure to restart her PC so as not to make it worse. Then she said thank you a lot.

Investments

investments

My mother always tells me that when I need to buy some things, make sure it will last because it’s going to be my investment.

I bought a bunk bed 2 days ago. Originally, I was planning to get something cheaper but I figured something P1200 more expensive but might last longer would be better. Not a lot of difference really. I might have it delivered next week.

I also bought some clothes. They’re not really expensive but Mama thinks they’re investments too. A good set of clothes is always an investment. A good pair of shoes is also an investment.

I opened an account on BPI Direct instead of BPI Direct Save-Up which is the automatic savings account because transferring money manually online is not really a big deal, and the interest is higher. I don’t plan to touch this account at all.

Maybe in 10 years, I’ll look for a nice small business for sale, check out the odds of this earning me money and think about getting it. OR if I’m amazing enough, I’ll just start my own business. I don’t know yet what kind of business though.

Right now, I’m thinking of getting the e-load retailing thingie for Globe. I need more details on this though, like how much is the start-up. I read from Fitz’s blog that the initial load is just P1000 which is the same amount I load up every month anyway. So I’m really considering it.

Anyone doing e-load retailing?

“Pinay Scandal Videos” Keyword and SEO

pinay-scandal-videos-keyword-and-seo

I’m sick of this. I got another bad comment. Not that I care much, but it’s really getting annoying already.

I don’t check on Google results anymore for this keyword because I don’t really care. I did it for fun, thought it was fun, and now the fun is gone. I won’t deny that I am getting affected. Why does it feel like it’s just me? I don’t even really engage in SEO, I don’t have Google Ads and I don’t really care about traffic. At least, not anymore.

I don’t need SEO tricks for my blog.

I won’t even say I will quit or retire from SEO since I was never really into it. I just like blogging. I like spouting off random nonsense and occasional deep stuff, but right now, I don’t really have the time.

I’m setting the Pinay Scandal posts on Private locked. The password for these posts for those interested is . And please, stop bugging me about it.

The Case of the Disappearing Monies

July 15, 2008

3:00pm

We went to the East-West Bank(?) ATM at the lobby of PBCom Tower, Ayala Ave, Makati City to check if we got our salary already. And we did (although I’ll have to question mine coz it doesn’t seem right). Jennie and I withdrew P1000 each. Melvin and Jes just checked how much they got.

3:10 pm

The four of us ate at McDonald’s because we were starving (our shift ends at 12pm). After which, we traveled to my place.

5:00pm

We arrived at my place. Did some preliminary planning and some work and went to Anson to check out some toys to butcher for our car lantern and to Hi-Top to see if they still had that instant Lemon Cheesecake that I brought to work.

6:00pm

We went to Anson, Hi-Top and National Bookstore. We ended up buying a toy Humvee coz we suddenly realized that we were already too lazy to create one from scratch. We wondered why we had to do all these things when we were just mere tier 1 agents…

8:00pm

We waited for a bus so that Jes could go home to her Cavite.

8:30pm

We came back home, ate buffalo wings dinner, and did some work on the Car lantern.

12:30am

We went to the office and waited for the Sodexhos we earned from last month.

2:30am

We got our Sodexhos and RJ wanted to eat out first.

2:35am

Jennie tried withdrawing again from the ATM. It kept giving her an error telling her that she didn’t have sufficient balance to withdraw. She had P0.00 balance, according to the ATM. We went to the other ATM, PBCom, and checked the balance. It still said P0.00

2:40am

We went to 7-11 to check the BDO ATM there. Jennie’s account is still showing as P0.00. Melvin tried withdrawing money, he got P1000 and his balance is correct. I tried withdrawing too since we’re going to eat out. It said I had P0.00 too.

dun dun dun DUNNNN!

All my monies were gone, down to the last centavo.

3:00am

We went to Chili Pepper (I think that’s the name of the place) and ordered some food after some coaxing by Melvin and RJ despite me and Jennie being depressed about our P0.00. We tried calling BDO’s customer service but all of their representatives are currently assisting other customers for 10+ minutes. Yu refused to check my online bank for me because of risk of fraud investigation (as if it exists here).

4:45am

Unable to stand it anymore, we went back to the office to use the lab PCs. Mine was really showing P0.00 but the transaction history won’t load at all. We informed our Operations Manager and she said she’ll look into it and file a report since our Team Leader or immediate supervisor wasn’t around (it’s our rest day for crying out loud).

5:00am

We just went home.

6:00am

I arrived home, checked online and my money was back. I checked mail and fixed up some cereal and later on passed out in bed (I don’t know the time. I think it was 7ish). I was awake for a total of 30+ hours.

10:00am

I woke up, sent a message to my mother asking where she is and if I could order my bunk bed already, but passed out again before I got a reply.

4:40pm

It was too late to go out to order my bed (read: I’m too lazy to go out already) and my mother was home already. I told her about the disappearing monies and Pop said BDO has been having problems with that even before.

SHOULD I BE GLAD That I’m not alone?

It was a scary feeling. I was about to cry when I told OM that our money disappeared. Jennie has had bad experience with banks stealing money from her so she was really worried. Knowing how the country’s system works, I was afraid I wouldn’t get it back either. I didn’t think it would be a bank problem since Melvin was able to withdraw money between me and Jennie getting P0.00

*sigh*

but it’s all good now. I’m going to withdraw it all tomorrow first thing and deposit it to my trusty BPI account. Maybe one day I’ll be able to save enough and do some travel. I saw some good deals for Outer Banks rentals in North Carolina. I wonder if these kinds of deals will still exist 20 years from now…

[Movie] WALL-E

movie-wall-e

Note: The WALL-E links each go to a different website. And spoiler alert. This is not a review. I’m just blabbering about it. Do not read if you do not want to be spoiled.

I’ve watched WALL-E for like 3.5 times (I was so drunk last night that I passed out half-way) and I don’t think I’ll get tired of watching it (tch, of course I will sooner or later). Ocassionally, I’d say “WALL-E! EEEEEVAh!” out loud from my WALL-E hangover. It’s a very likable movie. Although I don’t really count it as “Fantastic!!!” but it moved me and made me cry a tear in some parts. It had a lot of “Awwwww” parts.

WALL-E is a movie almost 800 years into the future wherein Man has become almost god-like with his ability to go into space and create robots to do everything for him. However, with Man’s technology, the world had become so polluted with unrecycled waste and it came to a point that Earth had stopped becoming livable. So the humankind went into space, supposedly a 5-year space cruise, while the planet was being cleaned up… but 700 years later, they were still in space.

The main character, WALL-E is a robot that is programmed to compact trash and arrange them properly and neatly into cubes that would remind you of building blocks. The movie actually started giving the audience an aerial view of the city with towers of compacted trash. In the end, after about 700 years, the other WALL-E robots had “died” and he was the only one left. Because of his hundreds of years of toil, WALL-E had developed a personality that he watched movies on an iPod magnified using… something, he befriended a cockroach, he collected interesting trash here and there and he tried his best to segregate his finds.

EVE, who looked like a product of Apple, was a robot of the future, highly advanced, and more good-looking than WALL-E. She becomes WALL-E’s love interest in the movie. She starts off as a disinterested, emotionless robot and ends up like WALL-E, full of emotions.

What I liked about this movie is the animation didn’t feel so much like an animation. I mean, it’s CG and everything, but it wasn’t very colorful (in the Earth scenes) and it almost gave a rustic feel to it. It can be plainly a kiddie movie or you could analyze it for deeper meanings–either way, you’re sure to enjoy the movie.

I personally would take both aspects of it. An animation to be enjoyed by kids, and a story with a deep meaning, a message for mankind. Basically, Man is Evil. Man, when given an opportunity, is lazy.

In the movie, the humans were given the chance to live in space while being served by robots 24/7. They didn’t need to walk. All the needed to do to have something done was to push a button or two or give a command. And everything will be done for them. Even their food can be served in a cup (hamburger in a cup, anyone?) so they don’t have to chew. So with the lack of gravity and physical exertion (nevermind exercise, but they hardly move at all), their bones shrank and they became big balls of jelly fat that they could hardly even walk. And because life in space was so convenient, they kind of forgot the existence of Earth.

They lacked a health insurance plan. They didn’t really need something like medigap since it was an all-expense paid “space cruise” but seriously, they needed a health advisor or something.

It took an old robot full of emotions and who loved the Earth to make these humans open their eyes and see their surroundings and appreciate what they see. With the fast pace of technology, who knows when we’ll be able to reach that kind of world. In a hundred years? 50?

I give this movie 5 stars.

Any my favorite quote in the movie is by the captain.
“I don’t WANT to survive. I want to LIVE!”

Star Star Star Star Star.

Rent and Condominiums

rent-and-condominiums

Apartment B might give up the place. They’re 5K behind May’s rent and they haven’t paid June’s. It’s already July and Mama’s predicting that they might not stay any longer soon. If they do leave, 1/3 of the house income will be cut and that will be a serious difference especially with the current trend of prices of commodities and other stuff. What’s funny is we haven’t increased the rent in like 10 years and they’re having troubles paying that amount.

But then, the rent in different places just keep going up. A lot of contact centers and offices are moving out or cutting down floor area because of the increasing rent. At the Philam Life alone, according to Vani, their rent will double. My company will also be moving out of our floor and will move to Glorietta (Or was it Greenbelt?) 5 once it’s finished. Loraine’s client gave up a half floor on the PBCom Tower because of the rent as well.

Now, if Apartment B gives up their space, it will be really hard to find a new tenant. The place is s run down and it will be unlivable for normal people since A and C are night clubs. The rent for our apartments are dirt cheap considering they’re on a main road and near an intersection…

I’ve been thinking about redoing the whole place–the apartments and the house itself–that is, IF ever I did have the money. The house is also very run down. The walls are termite-eaten and the roof is so rusted that when it rains, it’s also raining inside the house. Water seeps in the walls. Worst of all, what I hate the most, it floods inside the house, in my room.

I want to tear down the whole place and build a condominium. Maybe a 5 to 8 storey one will do. The floor area is large enough. And when it’s done, we could have a better chance at renting space out. Maybe one floor could be a dormitory. Two or three floors could be offices. I’d like the top floor or a penthouse for myself. We could probably do this through mortgage lenders … Borrow some money for a major reconstruction. A~ah… I do wish I had the money for that. I really hate this place.

Another problem though, even if I had the money to have this place torn down, where will the people live? Not like everyone will agree as well. It’s my grandfather’s house (he’s dead) and his wife is still alive. All their children are still alive. I doubt they’d agree to it. And if they did, they’d all be fighting over shares of the house income.

*sigh*

I do hate this family as well.

I need to work hard so I can move out to an elevated place where it doesn’t flood. Where I don’t have to hide food from my cousins or brother (because I hate them). Because I hate this place.

ZooToo!

zootoo

I just signed up for ZooToo. It’s a Pet Social Network. Basically, making acquaintances and/or friends over a social network with pets as the main concern. Here you can learn more about pets, or share your knowledge about pets, or just plainly meet pet-lovers. You can ask questions like about grooming, and so on. But that’s not all it is for.

It’s an online community geared towards pet-owners helping pets! — Yes, you can help other pets by joining ZooToo. ZooToo has different promotions and causes to help pet shelters and rescue groups around the States. They will donate up to US$1,000,000 every year to a deserving and community-supported shelter.

How’s that? Not only will you be helping your own pet, but you’ll also be helping other pets and future pets!

Now, what this site lacks is international support. Laugh It would be nice if I’ll also be helping the would-be pets in my country. Might as well start somewhere, right? And I do want to take better care of Taba.

Hana Yori Dango Anime

hana-yori-dango-anime

I just finished watching the anime version of Hana Yori Dango and although the Japanese and the Taiwanese (Meteor Garden) versions were also nice, I liked the anime too. The story is the same, but the ending and the last parts were somewhat different.

For the anime, Shigeru plotted so that Tsukasa and Tsukushi could be together and the evil mother finally let them be in the last episode.
In the Japanese drama, Shigeru left them alone so that they could be together and what was left was just the evil mother. And more events after that.
In the Taiwanese version … For the life of me, I can’t remember it anymore, but they had a lot of troubles with the mother first before they were able to get together.

I liked the Anime ending best although Tsukushi was a lot more indecisive. In the drama, Tsukushi was kind of stronger. In the Taiwanese version… UUGGHhh I need to rewatch it but I kind of remember Tsukushi (San Chai…not sure of spelling) also being stronger but more of a crybaby.

Tsukasa’s mom was scheming in all versions, although not as much in the anime version. But either way, you might have wanted her to just stay in New York where she belongs.

Hmmm… I think it would be nice to go on some New York City travel? What’s to see in New York anyway? Aside from the Statue of Liberty?

Aaaahhhh I want to go somewhere =_=;;

Watching Hana Yori Dango kind of made me envious of rich people. lol.
