Core of Soul - The Spirit of this Place

Finally done with the University Graduation last Sunday, but only able to write about it today. I was so tired Sunday night and I went out yesterday.
Anyway, I’m finally done. I feel a little guilty because I’m not teaching and I do not want to teach in the classroom, like what I studied and graduated as. But… meh… In any case. I’m finished!

The day before I got a new SIM card and dropped by iBlog4 and I was only running with 4 hours of sleep since Friday, and then I had work that night. I was able to leave early that morning and I was so desperate that I might not be able to sleep so … I drank some beer. I drank 2 cans of Strong Ice. And then tried to sleep. I was able to sleep around 8 already and I woke up before 11.

Surprise! I had a hangover. The headache kind of hangover. I don’t usually have hangovers with beer. The worst hangover I get is feeling puke-y, but after puking, I’d be feeling better. That one I had I didn’t really feel queasy or nauseous … just… a pounding headache.

So… heat of the sun plus headache plus too long a wait time = horrendous day!

But not really. It wasn’t that bad. It would’ve been really bad if it rained, which, miraculously, it didn’t. During the grad ceremony, there was this huge ass rain cloud looming above us. It thankfully cooled the place down though.

I didn’t have any awards or anything, so most parts it was boring. So I wandered to the Engineering area and took pics with my friends.

The speech of the guest speaker was actually nice. It was basically asking us to look back and recall the reason why we entered UP. I’m afraid I wasn’t completely listening so I can’t remember everything. I do remember, however, that they (the one who introduced the guest speaker and the speaker himself) kept on saying “quote blah blah blah … unquote.” The speaker also fumbled on his words a lot.

The banner below the balloon says "OUST GMA"The speech of the Summa Cum Laude graduate from Music was … … well… all I can say is… “Mabini?!” It was like the speech of the Coll of Educ’s class valedictorian. It was just that–a speech. A message that doesn’t mean anything. Nothing we haven’t heard yet. Except that Mabini part being the full embodiment of a UP student. I don’t know. …. “Mabini?!”

Of course, after graduation, right on the stage, they had a huge streamer which says something like “OUST GMA” same like with the balloons that got caught in the tree. I can’t remember what exactly were the words on the two banners, but the idea is the same.

I stayed until the end because I wanted to switch the sablay from right to left shoulder and I thought it would be some grad ceremony within. Apparently, it wasn’t really. Which was sad. I didn’t even realize that we were supposed to do it already until the marshals and other college officials told us to do so.

I also wanted to sing UP Naming Mahal and raise my arm in the air while singing it. I wanted to take a video of that scene but my phone ran out of battery. So… I’ll post this instead. It’s just someone saying “Congratulations UP Centennial Graduates!”

And since I don’t have a video of my batch singing UP Naming Mahal… I sang it! On a lower key, of course, because it’s too high.
