It’s So Freakin’ Hot!

its-so-freakin-hot

This isn’t the first time that that expression has been heard from me. I say it a lot, especially during the summer. I live in the tropics, so the temperature basically pretty warm throughout the year compared to where most of my online friends live.

Working as a tech support in an office where it’s always cold except on really rare occasions like a system maintenance on the air conditioners or something. But anyway, this morning, when I got home, I turned on the AC and went for breakfast. An hour later, my room wasn’t cold yet. Usually, ever since I’ve been using the AC again, if I leave it on for at least an hour, my room isn’t hot anymore (not that it gets cold). But this morning, it was blowing hot air.

So… I gave up.

Sleeping at Work

sleeping-at-work

I was late today at work. My shift starts at 7:45pm. I arrived at work last night around 6:40pm. I set up my station and then went to the lounge and slept.

I like the lounge couches. They’re so soft. They shouldn’t keep office furniture like that at work. I mean, people use those couches to sleep in, and it’s dangerous. I wasn’t able to wake up in time. I was 8 minutes late at work. GOOD THING I WOKE UP! Like OMG! OMG! I OVERSLEPT! I was late but I was at work already. -_-;

You know what’s funny? Every time I sleep in the lounge I dream. I dream dreams about call center empires or calls or what not.

The first time I slept in the lounge I dreamed that the Philippines was a call center empire, people were marching about going to work. And then there was a computer station shortage. I saw some old high school classmates and friends, and they were all call center soldiers.

I don’t remember my second time, maybe because it was just like 15 minutes. The first one was a 30 minute nap. My nap last night was almost an hour. Maybe that’s why I didn’t wake up to the vibrations of my phone. I woke up 7:52 and was logged in by 7:53. Still groggy and half-asleep. Good thing my first call came in after 8 already. High avail for the win!

Mellow Mondays and Mr Majestic

mellow-mondays-and-mr-majestic

I’m going to start a new category/segment on my blog. Moronic Mondays. Every Monday, I’m going to write about memorable experiences from my calls at work. Being a tech support is really an exciting kind of job. You get to experience techies, wannabe techies, idiots, irates, shy, scary, and what not. You get to talk to people with ages ranging from 10 to 85. For me, there are two things I like feeling accomplishment from–getting an irate caller what he wants and at the same time not going outside my scope of support or company policies and calming down in the end, and being genuinely appreciated. I’m an emotional person and there have been three times when I cried on the job–not because I was scared or anything, but because I was so frustrated that I can’t help them.

There are also some pretty funny experiences on the job, like one of the calls I’m going to feature for my first post. The format of this is going to be as follows: The issue (ISSUE), the resolution (RESOLUTION), and what happened that made it memorable (EXPERIENCE).

Without further ado, Mellow Mondays 001

Mr Majestic

Invasion: Philippines vs The World on TFCnow

invasion-philippines-vs-the-world-on-tfcnow

A few years ago, I signed up for TFC so I could vote for this local show that I can’t even remember the title. You could vote online for the ending that you want. I signed up for the local station’s site like ten times using different email addresses.

So… I’m always getting these emails about TFC — The Filipino Channel — ABS-CBN’s cable channel or something.

And recently, I received an email about this boxing event that will be showed on their pay-per-view. You could sign up for other abs-cbn shows online, but these kinds of events I think are more on the premium.

Now, sometimes I wonder why people make a big deal out of these events or sports wherein you have to beat your opponent down. It’s not like some martial arts wherein there is some underlying spiritual meaning to your moves or anything.

And so they make violence legal under the facade of sports.

For those interested in boxing, here’s the lineup or whatever you call it in boxing:

I’m Not a High School Graduate Anymore.

im-not-a-high-school-graduate-anymore

Seven years ago, I graduated from high school. April 4, 2001. I didn’t really graduate with honors, though I did get an award. It was a pretty ordinary day. It was hot, and we had food afterwards. I can still remember coming home that day to find our apartment locked for non-payment that afternoon. My mom begged them not to do it yet because it was my graduation day. I still had to attend the graduation ball. Not that it was special too.

I’m going to graduate from college soon… after seven years of sticking with it. I had wanted to give up several times.

So… This will be the last time I’m going to celebrate my high school graduation anniversary. I’ll be graduating from The University, from college. And next year, I’ll be celebrating that instead of my hs grad.

I should set up a countdown timer. I’m excited and I’m not excited at the same time.

Why?

I Won $100

i-won-100

I’ve never really won anything this big. There was once I played bingo and won like P800, but I was just playing my mother’s cards, so technically, it’s still hers. Another time, I bet on the lotto, and got P20 back.

I never really win anything in lotteries or whatever. Anything big, anyway. I won in a Jollibee raffle for free concert tickets for the last episode of a drama.

Last Wednesday, coming home from work, I got an email saying I won $100 just for being chosen. And it had links for me to click on. And I believed it immediately. But after seeing the date, I thought, … Could it be an April Fool’s Joke?

I Hate Clothes. I Love Noodles.

So… how many months have I been working? At work, I have to wear business casual most of the time (except for weekends), and sure I’ve got some slacks. I’ve got one really nice one, one so so, and another one… well… another one which will have to do most of the time.

I wear the three of them in constant rotation. Sometimes just one of them for the whole week when I need to (My shift is Saturday to Wednesday, so I only wear slacks thrice a week… for this month, that is. and last month).

And well… I guess it doesn’t really matter much since it’s just black, but sometimes I wish I had more than one good slacks. I brought this up with my mother and sure enough, she offered me some classy maternity jeans. I know I’m really big and all… *sigh*

BUT ANYWAY… I’m not really into clothes or fashion or what not. I hardly care about how I look. Heck, sometimes a whole week or two passes before I even comb my nice, long, straight black hair which doesn’t tangle much (I mean, comb with a comb. My fingers do the job most of the time, but that’s not really combing, is it?)

I think I’ll go out and get a new pair of slacks tomorrow. *sigh* I hope I Could find a cheap one. Really. It really depresses me sometimes when I go and buy clothes, and they just don’t fit. I know I should diet or something… so that buying clothes won’t depress me anymore. But…

There are good things in life that are just hard to give up. Like noodles.

OMG, Miii.net survived!

omg-miiinet-survived

Yes! I took the chance! I took a gamble! I laid out my cards on some fancy poker tables and hoped that some little things I removed from the site would slow down the sudden upsurge of traffic. At 10:11pm last night, I got the alert

The domain miii.net (miiinet) has reached 99% of its bandwidth limit (9903.42/10000.00 Megs).

I still can’t find a way to find what my bandwidth usage was right before midnight, but with the trend I was having, I guess it was really pretty close to 10Gb. so… OMG I survived!

I brought back the banner pictures, but I’m afraid I won’t put back the Crystal-Skies forum because no one really goes on it and it has become the home of some spammers.

With my 10Gb monthly bandwidth, I can normally manage, even hosting some songs every once in a while, but the upsurge from the forum was really not something I was able to handle, nor something I expected.

So, … I’m back to normal. I was also holding off posting something new because I was afraid that I might just kill it instead. ^__^ Happi~~~ \o/
