[Lyrics Translation] Megumi Ida - Tsuki no Akari
Due to popular demand… I tried translating the song. This is my Christmas gift to you (To some people anyway)!
I know I’m not that good but I tried not to translate everything literally since songs aren’t really meant to be translated literally. (I’m making up excuses). Anywayz, here is my translation of Megumi Ida’s Tsuki no Akari from FFIV (DS I think)
Moonlight - Final Fantasy IV Love Theme
Performed by: Megumi Ida
Produced by: Nobuo Uematsu
Translated by: MiMy heart whispered your name
But these thoughts of mine didn’t reach youThe look of my beloved is now too far,
With closed eyes, floating in the night skyEven now, those calm days when we laughed together
Are still warm in my heart. The first light in the blue night glows
And that day’s brightness shinesIt’s not possible to wipe your tears
This is where my hands only trembledNow taking an endless journey alone
Just wandering with these tired legsEven now, those wet days we warmly spent together
are still warm in my hand. The moon’s light just quietly shines
On this rusted heart which still beatsThe moon’s light in the blue night glows
And that day’s brightness shines
———————
Note: I used Moonlight for the title and the moon’s light for the song lyrics because it sounded more poetic. They mean the same thing anyway.
***I changed part of my translation, thanks to Rabbit for pointing it out. :D I still tried to keep the poetry in the song.

I just realized that I didn’t put a link to my romanization … psh -_-;;
It’s more of “even now” although the meaning is still the same, kind of, that it hasn’t stopped being warm.
(it’s still warm even now)
But…
Thanks for pointing that out XD let me change my translation >_<
=_=” i’m not really good at this but i try :3

Again hope you don’t mind my opinion^^ You don’t have to agree with my opinion either but I just thought I would point them out.
>kono boku no omoi wa soko ni todokanai no ni
This is somewhat of a lament that her thought is unable to reach her lover so perhaps “can’t” might be better than “didn’t”.
>kono yozora ni ukabu hitomi tojite mo
This is referring to the moon. “Even if this eye that is floating in the night sky closes…”, aka New Moon? :p
>saki no akari aoi yoru ni hikaru
This should really be Tsuki no Akari, not Saki. You should be able to pick this up if you listen again. “Moonlight, shines in the pale night”. I would choose pale over blue here for the description of the night. When someone says someone looks blue, it can also mean that someone looks pale.
>ano hibi no kagayaki terashidasu yo ni
“yo ni” should be “you ni”. So the line means “Just like the brilliance of that day shining…”
>kimi no namida nuguu koto mo dekizu
>kono boku no ryoute wa koko de furueteru dake
“Your tears, I can’t even wipe them…”, “My hands can only tremble here…”
>tomo ni sugoshita hi nureta nukumori ga
>tomo ni sugoshita hi nureta nukumori ga
>kono te ni ima mo atatakaku
“Nureta Nukumori”, well means wet/moist warmth. I am at a loss how to translate this part too. But somehow I feel that the lyricist means that “My tears, (while thinking back to the days they spent together) is still warm in these hands.
>sabitsuita kono mune kakimidasu yo ni
“As if disturbing this rusted heart…”
Last line is a repeat of one of the lines above.

Hi, I wandered upon this site on a random search to see if anybody had translated the lyrics to this. Pretty good job.
A few comments and comments on comments.
“Ano hibi” shouldn’t be “that day”, since “hibi” more properly conveys a time period, like “that time in our life” or “those days”.
“aoi yoru” should NOT be “pale night”. Aoi corresponds to pale (or maybe even green, if you wanted to choose a color in English ;) ) when talking about complexion, true, but here, it’s clearly blue, so this line is fine. The next line could use some work though. I’d say kagayaki is figurative, rather than literally “brightness”. Maybe something like “splendor” would work better. Also terashidasu means like that the light is bringing something out or pointing something out (like a spotlight). So maybe I’d say “shedding light on the splendor of those days”
Finally, the nureta nukumori thing…
I’d say something like “I can still feel the sticky warmth of the days we spent together”. A more literal translation would be something along the lines of “The days we spent together, the wet warmth… is even now warm in these hands”. Doesn’t really work in English, eh?

The small phrase “until now” is that meaning that “our hearts are still warm” has stopped or should I think of it as “even now” or “up to now”?
I worked on a translation of this song, but yours is way better. ^^
