[Karaoke] LENA PARK - Inori / ~You Raise Me Up

karaoke-lena-park-inori-you-raise-me-up

I had a long weekend, and what did I do? I sang and sang and sang. I know I’m not really that good, but who cares? On my website, I can believe that I’m great… right? Right? RIGHT!??? jk.

I was looking for the lyrics for LENA PARK’s English version of You Raise Me Up and I couldn’t really find one. Apparently, no one (or not a lot) bothered since the lyrics of Josh Groban’s version is just the same. But I found out that the order of the stanzas aren’t really very much the same. Just ALMOST. (lol.)

And so… just so there will be a result when someone searches for “LENA PARK - You Raise Me Up English Version” maybe this page will come up.

You Raise Me Up
Lyrics: Brendan Graham
Music: Rolf Løvland
Arrangement: Masayuki Sakamoto / Satoshi Takebe
Original Vocals: LENA PARK
Copied by: Mi XD
Karaoke by: misan

When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary
When troubles come and my heart burdened be
Then, I am still and wait here in the silence
Until you come and sit awhile with me

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders
You raise me up, to more than I can be

There is no life - no life without its hunger;
Each restless heart beats so imperfectly;
But when you come and I am filled with wonder,
Sometimes, I think I glimpse eternity

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders
You raise me up, to more than I can be

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders
You raise me up, to more than I can be

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders
You raise me up, to more than I can be

You raise me up, to more than I can be

Here’s the Japanese version.

I like the Japanese lyrics better, maybe because it’s more befitting of my current mood. The Japanese lyrics, thanks to DarkMirage’s lyrics and translation of Inori~You Raise Me Up,  is more about what the story of “Romeo and Juliet” is known for–star-crossed lovers, love that cannot be, the never-ending quest to attain that love…

It’s funny how the two versions are kind of contrasting and yet, complementing. The original English lyrics talks about how one gets motivated, or gets some hope, being strong. In the end, there’s the “other person” who’s there to guide you, to raise you up, who will BE there. No matter what happens, the “other person” will be with you…

In the Japanese lyrics, it’s also about having hope amidst the hopelessness. Continuing to hope, keeping up with the prayers with the hope that maybe, just maybe, the prayers will be heard. It’s full of uncertainty, as opposed to the certainty, the sureness in English lyrics.

” Even on those freezing, stormy nights,
Though you are still out of sight, I continue on.
Please tell me, ocean-crossing winds,
That my prayers will pass through time.”

It’s like how I am right now… or was. I wanted to believe that maybe, this is just a nightmare, that one day he’ll be back, and tell me that he was just joking, or wanted to surprise me.  I thought to myself, maybe he’ll pop out of nowhere on Christmas Day, and he’ll be his own Christmas gift to me.

Apparently not.

I’m moving on. There’s no need for anyone else to raise me up, to give me hope. I have my own life.

[Lyrics Translation] Megumi Ida - Tsuki no Akari

lyrics-translation-megumi-ida-tsuki-no-akari

Due to popular demand… I tried translating the song. This is my Christmas gift to you (To some people anyway)!

I know I’m not that good but I tried not to translate everything literally since songs aren’t really meant to be translated literally. (I’m making up excuses). Anywayz, here is my translation of Megumi Ida’s Tsuki no Akari from FFIV (DS I think)

Moonlight - Final Fantasy IV Love Theme
Performed by: Megumi Ida
Produced by: Nobuo Uematsu
Translated by: Mi

My heart whispered your name
But these thoughts of mine didn’t reach you

The look of my beloved is now too far,
With closed eyes, floating in the night sky

Even now, those calm days when we laughed together
Are still warm in my heart.

The first light in the blue night glows
And that day’s brightness shines

It’s not possible to wipe your tears
This is where my hands only trembled

Now taking an endless journey alone
Just wandering with these tired legs

Even now, those wet days we warmly spent together
are still warm in my hand.

The moon’s light just quietly shines
On this rusted heart which still beats

The moon’s light in the blue night glows
And that day’s brightness shines

Note: I used Moonlight for the title and the moon’s light for the song lyrics because it sounded more poetic. They mean the same thing anyway.

***I changed part of my translation, thanks to Rabbit for pointing it out. :D I still tried to keep the poetry in the song.

If you like this song’s translation, don’t copy. Link to this page instead. Don’t plagiarize.

Supplements

I just bought Taba (my puppy) some food supplements because he’s been looking a little sickly lately, so I’m wondering if it’s about food because he hasn’t been eating well either. But I thought the one I bought was like what Eelai buys, the tablets. The one I bought was powdered and I have to mix it with his food, so I’m getting pretty lazy.

Maybe I should get him some bodybuilding supplements for dogs, if there are. He’s like a cat. He always slacks his body whenever someone carries him, and speaking of carrying, he ALWAYS wants to be carried lately, like a baby. He’d stand on his hind legs with his front legs stretched toward me, begging to be carried.

Lately, I’m teaching him to sit whenever there’s food on the table, and not to climb all over people while eating. So I ignore him when he’s begging for food and wait for him to sit down before I give him anything (Yes, I know that’s bad in itself, but heck =/).

Sooo… he does sit and wait patiently… sometimes. He doesn’t sit when you tell him to sit though.
