Bank Holidays are a Pain in the Ankle

Yesterday, Pop woke me up at 8am and asked me to go to the ATM at the bank and withdraw money to lend him. I told him that the bank isn’t open yet and there won’t be anyone to refill the machine. And he got angry at me telling me that he needed the money and he can’t wait for the bank to open. I told him that the bank has been closed from Friday afternoon until Monday and payday has come for most people. He just got angrier telling me he really needed the money.

I mean.. aargh. He’s the one borrowing money, not me. And the bank really was closed and there really was no money. Why I knew? I knew. But I also went there for the sake of showing him a receipt.

It was cold yesterday morning and I was limping groggily in the streets. My ankle hurts every now and then. Sometimes I make a step and it hurts like hell, so much that it brings me to tears. And it happened while I was crossing the road. Good thing I was near the middle so I was able to stop a while.

I should go back to the doctor… but anyway, if this keeps up, I might need an affordable life insurance since I might get into accidents. *sigh*

Phone Cards

I was checking out prepaid phone cards because I haven’t spoken to Matt for ages (until a while ago). There’s this one online prepaid calling card service website, TheRichCom.com, wherein you can search and compare different phone cards and choose the cheapest one or the one with the best quality. You compare the following: quality, call rate, connection fee (if exists), the value and the total number of minutes for each denomination.

In case you can’t decide and may need advice, you can call one of the website’s Phone Card Specialists for consultation. Within the website, you can also find a Phone Card Guide, How to buy cards, and how to use these cards.

I saw a lot of cards to call the Philippines. I wonder if pop’s mom used a call card? I didn’t know how much she called here until she mentioned talking to Orc over the phone about his girlfriends.

Well, when I leave the country, I might need one of these. I’d better bookmark it.

Too Sleepy to Get Up and Pee

If you’re thinking the title refers to me, then you’re mistaken.

Have you ever been so sleepy that you don’t get to do something? Like go to the toilet and pee?

My puppy sleeps on my bed. I even took a picture of him earlier because he was so cute.

Monkey and Taba

He’s so cute, isn’t he?

This one was a couple of days ago:

photo-46.jpg

Sooo… Earlier, I was at the desktop computer and he was in bed sleeping. I heard him yawn and I looked at him and saw him stretching. I didn’t mind him since he does it all the time. A little later he was scraping on the bed and I watched him. After a while he was licking on the bed and was like restless. So I asked him what he was doing (YES, I TALK TO HIM, GOT A PROBLEM WITH THAT? >_>) and of course he didn’t reply. I let him do it for a few more minutes until I got irritated so I went to him and asked again. He suddenly laid on the bed like flat with his legs apart. I asked him why he stopped and he didn’t answer again… I asked him what he was hiding there and tried pulling him and he wouldn’t budge. And then my hand slipped to the bed.

Wet.

It was wet.

HE PEED!

=___=

He was like a little boy who got caught with his hand in the cookie jar, or a kid who was about to be reprimanded for doing something wrong. -___-

At that time I was angry at him, but looking back on it now, it was kind of funny how he was like a little boy. =_=

I tied him outside but Mama untied him and let him run around again =_=.

OTL

I’m thinking he peed while stretching. =__=

Growing Up, Growing Out

When I was in high school, I told myself (I think I told other people too) that I want to hold my debut in a fastfood, McD’s or Jollibee… A KIDDIE PARTY! I wanted a kiddie party for my debut. That would also mean giving out kids party invitations. I wanted to mark my coming of age with a final celebration as a kid. Looking back on that about ten years ago (well, maybe 7-8), now that I’m about to graduate, I can’t be a kid anymore.

I have to get a job. Soon. Before my practicum I applied for a job at Siemens, where my brother Iks works. I got their message that I was ready to work when school had already started and I backed out because things were getting hectic already. I’m glad I didn’t take it back then because if I barely had enough sleep for my practicum alone, what more if I had another job as well?

So, a couple of days ago, after I was finished with everything for college, I sent the girl I spoke with last time at Siemens and I asked if I would need to reapply if I still wanted to work with them, and she said no, I’m good to go, but they could only give me a project-based assignment–which meant that it wouldn’t last. About 3 months or so.

I’m thinking that if I do decide that I want to pursue teaching, I would have enough time to still apply for a teaching job after my contract at Siemens gets terminated.

Sooo… I start work on November 27. Wish me luck.

Pig Effect

Ever since I went on vacation last Monday, I’ve been abominably lazy. It’s not that I;m not doing anything. I’ve been sorting out my stuff, seeing of there are things I want to keep, what to throw, what I can sell… But it’s taking me forever. I’m on my 4th day of sorting and cleaning.
Granted some of the junk has been here from 5 years ago, ever since I moved in, but it’s also because I have too many breaks in between. I’d be cleaning for 3 hours and sit on the comp for 4. Or I’d lay down for a while and I end up sleeping, dreaming of caribbean cruises and Ramen and what not.

I guess all those sleepless nights are coming back and demanding payment!

A Life Lesson

:D I’m only going to put this up for a day. XD

Tops wrote in his comment that I was brave to put up my grades here. I replied back that it just shows that even if you were a total failure at first, you can still succeed.

For those who don’t know, 1.00 is the highest, 3.00 is the lowest passing, 4.00 is conditional, 5.00 is fail. Inc is incomplete.

My first course or major was BS ECE (Electronics and Communications Engineering) at UP Diliman, College of Engineering. Out of the number of subjects I failed (did you count?) only 3 were not related to Engineering. I failed in PE because in the first one, my teacher disappeared for a while and when he came back, I got lazy to complete the requirements. In the second PE (FYI it was Walking for Fitness), I failed because I tripped and I kind of lost all will to attend the class which was at 8am, right before my Math 114 (Linear Algebra blah blah) which I had to take a Removal Exam for, and I got lazy as well, so my grade stayed conditional but I assume it has been registered as 5.00 by now.

A series of failures finally ended up with me getting dismissed from the College. There’s this rule that we have to pass 24 units each year. I could have easily shifted to Geodetic Engineering, but I knew that I didn’t want to deal with numbers anymore.

Treadmills

I was walking home with my co-student-teacher Justin when we started talking about weights and body building and gyms. He’s complaining about his bulk size because he’s not that tall, about 5′9″ but he weighs a LOT because he’s full of muscle. And he’s got a big chest that makes him really look big. So anyway, our conversation wandered to gym equipment and he mentioned that treadmills are so useless to him because what he needs is upper body action or something like that.

I remember when I was buying my Zen Micro Photo… I think there was also a sale on treadmills and I noted to myself that the darned tiny (it was tiny back then) mp3 player was much more expensive than a big bulky treadmill.

I want a treadmill so I could exercise in my room, I don’t want to leave my room. But my big problem would be where to put the big thing. *sigh*

Now that I’m on vacation (for now anyway), I’ll probably have no exercise and no sunlight. :D

Bette Midler

OMG! I couldn’t believe that Bette Midler is still alive! I thought… well… I thought nothing. I just didn’t think of her. She’s Lori’s favorite artist before, I don’t know about now, but she told me before that she was her favorite before.

How did I know of her continuing existence? She’s going to have a concert. I saw an announcement of Bette Midler tickets for sale! Imagine my surprise! I haven’t heard anything about her for years. But oh! She’s such a classic. I still remember some of her songs. ^_^~

Last Day of Practicum

Today was the last day of submission of grades. Today I submitted everything–my students’ grades, my journal, all my lesson plans, other random stuff.

I had so many plans after I finished my Practicum… In no particular order

  • I’m going to watch anime until I drop
  • I’m going to buy a new cellphone
  • I’m going to chat all day
  • I’m going to sleep for a month
  • I’m going to clean and rearrange my room
  • I’m going to soak in the bathroom for at least 5 hours
  • I’m going to reformat my computer

So many things, right? I don’t even know where to start! I sat in front of the computer, telling myself, “Ah! Finally! I can watch anime!”

Then I stared at my Anime folder and … continued staring. What to watch? Where to start? I stopped downloading anime almost after my practice teaching started, about 5 months ago, so I’m sort of off the hook on what’s new, what’s over, and so on. I tried streaming drama from the mac but it buffers a lot.

So, from the list of things to do, what should I do first? Sleep? Clean? Bathe? Watch anime?

About the cellphone, I’ve kind of given up on it. It’s funny. At first, my goal was a laptop by the end of my practice teaching. Then when my cellphone broke, I figured that a snazzy cellphone would be cheaper, so I could just get one really good one, like a PDA phone or a smart phone. Then Mama ran away with my broken cellphone and had it fixed so I don’t need a new one anymore. And now that I was contemplating on reformatting but not having the space, I figured that getting a hard drive would be cheaper of all those.

Maybe I should invest in jewelry like some gold bracelets >_< at least those I could put in a pawnshop if I badly need money.

Well, anyway, for now I’m going to get a new hard drive and organize my files (and download more) and eventually reformat. And while copying files and so on, going to clean my room! The perfect plan!

Mi’s Blogging History and Blogger Import Patch for Wordpress

And so I was trying to import my old posts from Blogger because I couldn’t justify that I’ve been blogging for a long time and that this site has been active for over a year. What’s the story behind it?

I started blogging in 2003. Even before that, Nagi forced me to join a ‘blag’ group which I don’t know whatever happened to it. I really got into blogging in 2003 because Sheila forced me into it. She even designed my layout. I didn’t become a hardcore blogger until a year later. I became one because I ranted a lot and didn’t really have anyone to talk to.

I acquired miii.net in 07 January 2006 (Noe’s birthday ^_______^ *giggle*) and I continued to use Blogger because I was still a blog n00b even if I had been blogging for almost three years already at that time. But last year, when I got a boyfriend, I kind of felt I wanted to start anew, a change, and so I got into Wordpress. I hadn’t migrated to the new blogger then so it was easy to import my old posts, but I deleted them because, like I said, I wanted to start over, a clean slate.

Months passed by and I continued to do my usual ordinary blogging, but because of Sarah I got hooked on monetizing my blog like writing about RC helicopters, and eventually, joining blogger communities. And well… I’d like to show off my blog age! but I don’t really want people delving into my past.

BUT WHO CARES!? It’s all in the past. No one would want to read the 688 posts I wrote more than 2 years ago, right? (I really hope so)

Well, here’s the hard part. Wordpress’ Blogger to Wordpress 2.2 Import script fails. And I found the way to fix this about 8 or 9 Google results later, I found a reply on a post about Wordpress needing a patch to fix this.

It said to change something on line 87 from www2.blogger.com to www.blogger.com

blogger.diff

What to do?

  1. Get your blogger.php inside import folder which is inside your wp-admin folder (inside your wordpress folder: /wordpressfolder/wp-admin/import/blogger.php) and open it using a text editor like notepad.
  2. Look for the lines that correspond to the image (or follow the links and copy it) and remove the 2 from www. Reupload, overwrite, and you’re ready to import your blogger posts to your Wordpress.

So, if this failing Blogger-to-Wordpress import is what’s keeping you from migrating to wordpress, here’s the fix for it!
