The Art of Procrastination, Mi Way
I know I haven’t been writing much lately. I’m busy… I’m busy procrastinating and stuff. That aside, it’s just that I’ve been extremely lazy lately. I don’t have the motivation to do anything. Seriously. Every day I go to school, I feel like I’m dragging my feet. It’s so not exciting. Anyway, I now present…
The Art of Procrastination, Mi Way.
- Plan your day. Have someone write down your plan as well, and ask that person to remind you to do whatever’s on the plan at a certain time. Then when he does remind you, growl and tell him to remind you after 10 minutes. Do this at least 10 times or until that person gets mad and quits on you. If you have a timer, or like an option on your cellphone, you can use that too… until the snooze/remind-me-later option disappears.
- Recite a Mantra. “I need to get my <insert what has to be done here> done.” Do this while doing something else, like playing Flood It. It helps. A lot.
- Make a bet. If you’re playing a game, or playing with luck, tell yourself that you’re going to start/continue what you have to do if you achieve something. Like when I play Flood It, I promise myself to stop playing and get on with my work if I win with a green. Then purposely lose or not win with that color, or heck, just plain ignore it and continue your game!
- Set a limit. Lately, I’ve been watching Seto no Hanayome with Yu, and I set a limit, like only up to this episode, or watch only up to this time. But then, there are those cliffhangers that you just HAVE to know what’s going to happen next… right?
- Start early. If something is due on Monday, start working on it as early as possible, at least a week or two prior to the due date, or whenever the task is assigned or given. So you have plenty of time to find distractions.
- Take a shower. It relaxes you and clears your mind. … What was that I was going to do again? Oh… Sleep? Okay.
- Eat happy food. Food that makes you really happy, like noodles. Well… Instead of noodles, it could be your favorite food as well, like Chocolate for some. To give you stamina and the energy to work on your whatever. Eat a lot. Then sleep! Sleep is best when you’re satiated.
- Lay out everything. Your notes, your books, put everything you’re going to need in front of you, so you are reminded that you have to do something, but everything is within your reach. Scatter everything all around your room or work table, so everywhere you look, you see those flashing signals “Do Me Now!” your books and stuff are telling you.
- Rearrange and reorganize. An ordered sight gives you peace of mind and it can relax your tired and stressed-out mind. An ordered site gives you a piece of mined information because everything is clear. Hmmm… Really? Time to reorganize my site!
- Reflect and meditate. Think about your life as it is. And blog about it. Oh, you were going to talk about how your week went, right? And what about that movie you were planning to see? How about the list on how to procrastinate?
