Technically, I’m still a student, but I’m also a teacher already. Sometimes I see things in my students that I used to do or be and I realize that nothing much has changed from when I was in high school.
Last Friday, I spent about 10 minutes discussing the first act of The Merchant of Venice by Shakespeare and they were talking about the contents of sparknotes and enotes, and even cliffnotes. I told them they should read the book because I’m going to ask very specific questions as well.
When I was younger, I almost never read the required books.

The list of deficiencies for graduation announcements has been posted and my name wasn’t there. Just to make sure, I asked one of the secretaries who handles student affairs in the college if there was something else I needed. She told me I needed to substitute my Math 17 to Math 1. I’m like “WTF? Didn’t I ask you before if I needed it to substitute my Maths, then you said yes, and when I had accomplished having my Math 17, 53, 54, and 55 substituted to a measly Math 1, you said I didn’t need it anymore, and now I need it again?”
Then she said I just need to substitute Math 17 to Math 1. Then the dude behind me was like “WHAT? I took Math 1 and 2 just because I only finished 17 and 53 and they said I needed to have finished until 55 to have them substituted!”
And so a long discussion began.
I don’t even know where I put my accomplished substitution forms for my Maths anymore.
The system is so f*cked up.
Anyway, I came back 3 weeks later after I asked about my deficiencies. Surprisingly, the lady knew my name and told me that I didn’t have any deficiencies and she made no mention of the need for substituting my Maths.
Should I forget about it? Or continue looking for my Math substitution forms?
*sigh*
