Opportunities
I walked with Ma’am de Villa to the Jeepney loading areas on the way home yesterday and we were talking about my plans after I graduate. I told her that I do plan to work at a call center because the pay is better and I wouldn’t have to take home my work and that I can’t look for a job in the middle of the school year.
Then she started talking about how my English is good, I know how to handle the students (lol) and so on, and that I should consider teaching in UPIS or something like that. And if I did consider it, it would be really easy for me, my path would be paved, my papers would be there already…
I don’t want to be tied down to a job where you have to take home your work. I want a job that as much as possible keeps work during office hours.
They say teaching is a calling. Apparently it is not mine.
I don’t want to be tied down to this country. I don’t want to be called a professional while an English-speaking college dropout earns more than me.
This doesn’t mean that I don’t love my country. I do. In fact, I want to teach Tagalog. Just not in high school.
*ah*
Meh… I WILL leave this country. Someday. By hook or by crook (just kidding).
Ahahaha…I should write that article for the “Buwan ng Wika”
Ahahahahahaha…. I miss Powder.
Well… thinking about that again, it would really be nice if I did consider it. Less work. I’ll even know the interviewers. Things would probably be a breeze for me. *sigh*
