Addicted to… Oxygen?!

Anyone who knows me know that I’ve got a noodle addiction. Well, I just heard another weird kind of addiction at the school where I teach.

One of the Filipino teacher’s mother developed an addiction to oxygen, and she was telling the other teachers about it, how her mother asks for the oxygen every day at a specific times (every 3 hours if I’m not mistaken). And because of that they’re spending big bux regularly for the oxygen. They’re looking into getting their own concentrator/refiller but it costs so much. I saw the price for a portable oxygen concentrator and WOAH, it costs about as much as this laptop I’ve got my sights on.

And no, I wasn’t eavesdropping. I couldn’t help hearing it when the English teachers on one side of the room and that Filipino teacher on the other side were talking with each other, while we student-teachers were in the middle of the crossfire.

Well… good luck to her. At least my addiction is cheaper.

Classroom vs Theater

We hold our Educ 181 (Student-Teacher Seminar) class in the College Theater. It seats about 180 people I think, and it’s really cold there (as long as the airconditioner has been running for at least 30 minutes).

However we don’t really need that big of a classroom. Sure, the seats are cushioned and it’s cold there. It’s kind of comforting after a full day of teaching. But we don’t even occupy 1/4 of the theater. It’s an awful waste of electricity. We don’t even use the sound system, nor the multimedia projector (we still use the obsolete overhead projector/OHP).

So we proposed to use one of the room upstairs that was recently renovated. It’s got conference tables and it’s also airconditioned as well. That way we could see each other (almost) and the professor in front doesn’t look too overwhelming. With that atmosphere, it would be more comfortable to share our experiences as would-be teachers.

Right?

Student-teaching Day 33

Classes resumed after 6 days yesterday–free day, suspensions, weekend, holiday–and my students from both classes as expected did not do their individual parts of their group project.

The group collaboration project is something like this:
They have to do a radio drama script in the style of Canterbury Tales, but set in the Philippines and in prose form. They were asked to choose what role they would like to play and the pilgrimage site was assigned through drawing of lots.

They have to write a General Prologue which would consist of the pilgrimage

Rockapella

~Arruba, Jamaica, Ooo I wanna take ya to Bermuda~~

This song reminds me of cruises. Who wouldn’t? The song talks about cruise spots and so on. Did you notice anything about the song though?

Yes! It’s not by the Beach Boys!

It’s by this group called Rockapella which is like a chorus group. Cool aye? They have a ton of other songs, covering famous songs and such.

This is my favorite song of them though.
