Mr.Children - Surrender

Does the title make sense?

It’s a name of a Japanese band, one of my favorites (X-JAPAN is still my #1). I can’t decide on a #2 … EVERY LITTLE THING or Mr.Children…I don’t know.

I discovered Mr.Children while looking for a Korean Drama’s OST (Autumn’ s Tale/Autumn in My Heart .. depending on who translated it). Don’t ask me how. This happened over four years ago.

The first song I heard from them was “Surrender”.

Student-teaching Day 28

I seriously thought Ma’am Teret would be back today. I don’t know why I didn’t think she wouldn’t. She would be coming from GenSan. Of course she wouldn’t be back just yet.

And so I showed Ma’am Tima my LP and when Gail arrived, I asked her to enlarge the cartoon I wanted to show to the class. I was caught totally off-guard so I was a little late. I recapped our discussion on Extended Definitions and  showed them the cartoon for the pre-writing activity.

Some of them had negative views on heroism because of an article they read for AP. I made sure they had positive views on heroism as well so I kept asking them… which ate some time.

Then I told them to make a VO for it and they asked if they could do it as a group. I okayed it and told them they only had 10 minutes to do it.

Ten minutes later, they were still not done and I told them that if they kept stalling they won’t have enough time left for the theme writing itself. Five minutes later I told them to stop working with their groupmates and start working on their compositions individually, but they could pass around their VO.

One of them was too stubborn and said that if Ma’am de Villa were there, she’d have let them take home the activity and have it submitted tomorrow. I told her that it was *I* who was there at the moment and not Ma’am de Villa. And if she’d stop complaining and get to work, she might finish it.

Only about half finished. I told them they could submit within the day as long as I was still there.

Gold acted a bit more mature. Not a lot of complaints and a lot of them actually finished on time..

Dancel finished early and I was always bothered by the way she looked most of the time. She always looked like she’s glaring at me. So while waiting for the rest of the class to finish, I sat beside her and asked her if she was feeling ill. She sa
id she was just stressed out and pissed with her groupmates not just in English class. We talked a bit until class ended and I’d like to believe that our talk made her feel somewhat better because she was smiling a lot when they left to go to their next classes.

Success?
