Student-teaching day 16
We worked on definitions today again. Ma’am told me about the pair-work and I said I would do that as well. The kids enjoyed but sometimes they went overboard.
One of the words they had to define was “UPIS” and a pair answered that it was where fine and respectful students study. I told them that I didn’t think it was true and accurate, and they asked me why. In turn, I asked them if speaking at the same time when someone else was talking was respectful. That kind of shut them up for a few seconds, but it was just that–only a few seconds.
I told them to answer the exercises in their grammar modules.
I think my LP will be okay already.
Oh yeah, in class, Christine told me not to say “Please” when I told the class to “please answer page blah blah.” She said, “Ma’am, no ‘please.’ Just say ‘answer these’.”
A lesson learned. I need to be careful from now on.
