Student-teaching day 11

Today is technically my first teaching day because I had to follow my lesson plan. The quiz was fun. They had interesting reactions to some of the questions. However, one of them complained about me always asking for names, so I changed one of the questions. The original question was “Who was the uncle of Beowulf? and the answer was “Hygelac.” I changed it to “Who was the valorous nephew of Hygelac” and the answer was “Beowulf.” That was sort of my trick question for them since he’s the hero of the story.

My booboos of the day were with the questions and my sound system. The speakers weren’t loud enough, so I sang my song for them. And my questions… well… I had to change a few other questions because of the unexpected answers of the students. Was it bad that I didn’t strictly follow my LP?

Our topic today was heroism (of Beowulf) and the “unsung heroes” was the point I wanted to bring up. Bea suddenly wanted to tell the class so much why Christine was her personal hero. She took up a LOT of time to tell her story… but it was fun.
