Blurb:
Makoto Konno, a girl attending high school in Tokyo’s shitamachi, gains the power to go back in time and re-do things (the time-leap) when she gets involved in an accident at a train crossing one day. A little bewildered with her new powers at first, Makoto uses them extravagantly to not be late and get perfect grades on tests, but…

Movie Insert and Theme Song Single

Theme Song: Hanako Oku - garnet

Insert Song: Hanako Oku - Kawaranai Mono

And Finally… My Review! Listen to the songs while you read my review. I’m not really good at writing reviews. x_x So… Yeah.

The movie starts with a few keys of the theme and the ticking of a clock like a time bomb. The main characters show up in a slow-paced scene with them playing catch. Makoto wakes up from her dream and the pace speeds up. On that same day, she seems to be the unluckiest person in the world. A series of “unfortunate events” happen to her one by one, so unlucky that it kills her… almost.

This movie somewhat reminds me of Studio Ghibli and World Masterpiece Theatre anime series–good music, good sceneries, good stories–the music fits the scenes, from quiet, almost solemn, to quirky, “hoppy” music, with insert and theme songs that leave you a little sad but making you want to listen to them again; the voices fit the characters well–Makoto, a roudy but emotional girl; Kousuke, a quiet but sensitive guy; Chiaki, a somewhat wild and crazy guy... so manly, so yummy! so..!!! *cough*–their voice acting so good that at some scenes they can really get to you; the facial expressions are sometimes very expressive; the backgrounds almost look real.

[At this point, I get lost in thought because while writing this review I had the movie playing so I know what to write but I ended up just watching. But damn, this is the 5th time I’m watching it. I just watched it the first time last Monday before I went out to vote. OTL]

Three things from this movie:
1. If something is meant to happen, it will happen.
2. If you try to avoid what is meant to happen and manage to do so, it will happen to someone else. Like maintaining the balance of things... Like in Shakugan no Shana!
3. You realize how precious something or someone is once it disappears. Time waits for no one. so you’d better make use of the time you have now.

I wanted to say that Time is irreversible, but maybe now it’s true, who knows if sometime in the far far future, it won’t be irreversible anymore.

Scenes I loved in the movie:
The scene with Chiaki and Makoto by the riverbank, and the part with Kousuke and the ichinensei (Freshman) girl turning ghostly white. When Makoto was running and running and running.… Gaahh… and more. A lot of scenes!

Scenes I didn’t like in the movie:
Huh? What?

What I liked about the movie:
It just hits my heart. I’m at a loss for words. No, I’m not just being lazy and being absorbed into the movie once again. After I watched it, I was just …. “OMFG WATCH IT! LEECH IT AND WATCH IT!” The music, especially the theme song and insert song, was a little sad but not really. One of those I’m-sad-but-I’ll-show-you-that-I’m-happy kind of songs.

What I didn’t like about the movie:
The ending. It didn’t end. It makes me want for more. MOAR!!!! MOAAAAAAARRRRRR!!!! But then, that’s the beauty of it. It leaves you wondering, and wanting.

Final words:
JUST ^&*%(*&%^)&*(% WATCH IT! LEECH IT! WATCH IT! AND WATCH IT AGAIN! AND AGAIN!

AND AGAIN!

[at this point the movie is ending… and I’m annoyed again… but happy.. but annoyed… Argh!]

[I WANT MOAR DAMNIT!]

Hahaha you didn’t really get to write a solid review. You did though halfway in the first 2 paragraph ^^, then you skipped to the discussing the lesson of the movie… (you probably got distracted because you were absorbed watching the movie while writing the review ^_^, or was it chiaki that distracted you? ^_^).. Well I have to agree with you.. I liked Toki Wo kakeru Shoujo (anime) the first time I have watched it.. and I think I have watched it almost 5 times now.. very refreshing story that makes you think way back how it felt being a high schooler ^^. The characters are great, especially Makoto.. geez I really liked her personality… one good scene that made me laugh out loud is when she tried to keep going back in time to prevent chiaki from asking her out in a date ^_^ . And the drama… superb.. I shed tears at the scene when Makoto ran into the school roof to cry her heart out after Chiaki left for the first time. The emotion at the scene when she was running wild trying to stop Kousuke from a bike accident and lastly the scene when she ran into the night after discovering that her last “time leap” was reversed due to Chiaki’s leap to save Kousuke.. the insert song at that scene is really really great ^_^ .. haha sorry my comment is a bit long… I really enjoyed the movie so I thought I should drop a comment ^_^ _\/m
