The Evolution of The “Mi”
Did you ever wonder where the “Mi” came from? Mi is currently my internet identity. As much as possible, I use Mi. Signing guestbooks or comments, usernames for forums and stuff if I can, and so on. I wanted to get the domain Mi.com but it was already taken. Mii was taken too, I think. Hence, Miii.
Here are some of the nicks I’ve used in the past:
midori / ã¿ã©ã‚Š (green), misanthrope, michan, misan, miz, mizu, miao, mishi, mimi, and so on.
I wouldn’t really mind if you called me a nick-whore. I collect nicks. It’s like collecting rocks or something. Anyway, here are the possible answers to how I started using “Mi.”
- I got so entranced by the Do Re Mi song especially that line “Mi, the name I call myself.”
- Again concerning music, since my first name starts with E, I thought it would be cute if I used “Mi.”
- I was so proud of myself that I think the only one who should be called “The Great ME” but since that is so cliche, I used “Mi.”
- Someone couldn’t pronounce my long nick so they shortened it to “Mi.”
- I got really lazy that I thought “michan” was too long so I shortened it to “Mi.”
- I didn’t like the color green anymore so I shortened “midori” to “Mi.”
What’s your answer? 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6? Or none of the above?
I’ll answer that next week. x_x
For now, here is a cover by Ai Otsuka with her band in the drama SURVIVAL COMPANY, called “to me”. And I’ll just think that it’s “to mi.” Anyway, this was the first song she sung in the Japanese DVD Drama Tokyo Friends.
And here is the original song by BOO BEE BENZ.
Enjoy!
